Rocio’s art, which ranges from painting to mosaic work, is the culmination of diverse influences, but those from her youth are especially potent. These include belonging to a large Catholic family in her native Colombia, and being surrounded by pre-Columbian and Latin American art, to the ever-present Andes landscapes and tropical hues. Now living in Bristol, Rocio combines meditations from her Colombian past with her present English experiences so that both influences are evident in her work – sometimes overtly, as with a recognizably ‘English’ palette in a landscape painting; sometimes with subtler suggestion.

She often found inspiration in ancient themes, that portray reality and illusion and  continue to develop her artist language, especially through abstractions to emphasise the underlying atmosphere and structure.

Throughout her career as an artist she has painted extensively, exhibiting her work in Colombia, Spain, Germany and England.
