Borders and Transition a group exhibition on Havelberg – Germany

10 September -8 October 2023 Galerie Stadtinsel

The content of the exhibition delves into the relevance of borders in the current global world context, relating to the artist’s experience of migration. It highlights the broad interpretations of borders in political, social, cultural and biological contexts. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of adjusting psychological and stylistic boundaries in art.

To be confronted with a dual culture is like living in a contrast between illusion and reality; the art suffers a process of creation and destruction which can be viewed superficially as having a relatively simple configuration, but with a high degree of content.

In art – stylistic boundaries: / fantasy / reality / representational / abstract / surreal , etc are an infinity of ideas that can be explored.

The exhibition will feature various art forms. The group of artists in this exhibition have lived, experimented and explored with this theme in art, with form, colour and stroke shown with paintings, drawing, objects, sculpture, photography and graphics.

I have been invited to take part in this exhibition by Britta Lehmann and Heinz Sporkhorst, the organisers and artist participants.

Casual Connections Exhibition

“Casual Connections” is an exhibition by Rocio E Bucheli, aColombian artist living in Cardiff, Wales. In my residence at Kunstraum La Girafe in Kreuzberg, Berlin, I will explore what it is to become a migrant. Dislocation and discrepancies are compounded by different languages, and unfamiliarity with environmental factors like climate, topography, light, flora and fauna. Our native individuality is formed in response to such factors.

I will use creativity to explore the concept of belonging. Words, lines, colour all facilitate interactions and expression of hidden feelings, which can also invite future generations of migrants to interpret and integrate connections.

Mae “Casual Connections” yn arddangosfa gan Rocio E Bucheli, artist o Golombia sy’n byw yng Nghaerdydd. Yn fy mhreswyliad yn Kunstraum La Girafe yn Kreuzberg, Berlin, byddaf yn archwilio beth yw dod yn ymfudwr. Mae afleoliad ac anghysondebau yn cael eu gwaethygu gan wahanol ieithoedd, ac anghynefindra â ffactorau amgylcheddol fel hinsawdd, topograffeg, golau, fflora a ffawna. Mae ein hunigoliaeth frodorol yn cael ei ffurfio mewn ymateb i ffactorau o’r fath.

Byddaf yn defnyddio creadigrwydd i archwilio’r cysyniad o berthyn. Mae geiriau, llinellau a lliw i gyd yn hwyluso rhyngweithio a mynegiant o deimladau cudd, a all hefyd wahodd cenedlaethau o ymfudwyr yn y dyfodol i ddehongli ac integreiddio cysylltiadau.
